Marisol Gladding (mar – ee – soul ), a multinational individual, came to LITE in March 2008. She is an Ohio-born Cuban who spent her first years in the Philippines before relocating to Hong Kong and mastering chopsticks, kung-fu and asian cinematic lip-syncing…ok, chopsticks anyway. No, she does not habla español, but she can count to ten in Cantonese. (It comes as no surprise that she married a Taiwanese Italian…completing the Latin-Asian fusion).
Marisol earned her Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media, specializing in visual languages, at the University of Central Florida. After graduation, she became a member of ACM SIGGRAPH and networked with industry professionals as she managed a restaurant and worked as a freelance artist until she took a full-time position as a 3-D generalist and graphic artist at Third Millennium Ministries.
If pressed, Marisol will say that she left the magical world of Mickey Mouse for the promise of only a few minutes a month in LITE’s TIS or “CAVE®,” as it’s commonly called…and Cajun food. But other than the “CAVE®,” her Wacom tablet or the latest 3-D magazine, Marisol also enjoys spending time with her husband Kevin and her dog Kato, a lab-mix they saved from the pound, trying new wines, watching movies and commenting on the problems that could have been overcome if the production company had used PreVis artists.
PreVis is what brought Marisol to LITE. As a PreVis Artist on the Content Development (Production) Team, she will facilitate clarification and communication of project concepts so as to expedite consensus and development of shared vision between all parties, both internal and external. Specific tasks will include the utilization of multiple 3-D and coding programs and tools to facilitate scene layout and animation, character blocking, image compositing, content conceptualization and creation, website design and various problem-solving tasks.
Marisol is excited to be a part of the LITE team and the Lafayette community and looks forward to getting actively involved with both.
