Dr. Emad is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the Center of Louisiana Water Studies (CLIWS). He received a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a specialty in Water Resources and Hydrology from the University of Iowa in 2001. His research is concentrated in the areas of hydrology and hydrometeorology with an emphasis on uncertainty assessment and validation of rainfall remotely sensed products, hydrological applications of radar-rainfall information, hydrologic modeling and hydrological applications of advanced statistical and simulation methods.
Emad has experience in recent projcts studying uncertainty of hydro-ecological models, integration of atmospheric-hydrologic forecasting models and development of water and salinity budgets of estuarine and coastal basin. He teaches undergraduate and advanced graduate courses in hydrology and probabilistic methods. He is the co-chair of the Uncertainty Assessment Task of the Coastal Louisiana Ecosystem Assessment and Restoration Model and a member on the American Society of Civil Engineers Environmental Water Resources Institute “Doppler Radar” Task Committee. He has several peer-reviewed publications in the Journal of Hydrology, Advances in Water Resources, Journal of Coastal Research, Journal of Hydrologic Engineering and others. He serves as a regular reviewer on journals such as Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, Advances in Water Resources and Journal of Applied Meteorology.
